Cycle of Life

This is a graphic photo of one mammals demise and another's good fortune...

Big Sky, Big Rainbows

This Alaska Sportsman's guest, Shoren Brown of Trout Unlimited, proudly displays a beautiful rainbow Trout on a stunning Big Sky Montana of a day.  Thanks for fighting to save our watershed Shoren!

King Town

Alaska Sportman's Lodge guest, Carl Swanson, demonstrates that holding a 50 lb King is a task all in itself...especially after a 40 min fight to bring this spectacular fish in.

Kvichak River. Bristol Bay, Alaska

For those of you who have been to this magical place, know what I'm speaking of when I say there is no river more beautiful, pristine, and majestic as the all mighty Kvichak River.  Here is a beautiful shot that could be mistaken for Caribbean waters.  The angler standing alone casting for the allusive rainbow Trout, knows this is a very special place indeed.

Although the camera man who shot this image is dead after trying to get to close for a photo opp.  We do appreciate his sacrifice, as it is rare or maybe just not wise to capture a Bristol Bay grizzly feasting on a Moose.

Just kidding on the dead camera man =).

Nush....

King fishing is off to an excellent start at Alaska Sportsman's Lodge.  Here an ASL client holds his prize, fresh from the Nushagak River.

Tasty!

Dinning is a big part of any fishing trip to a lodge.  We are proud of our culinary program at ASL and are very happy to have Chef Alex Chase working in the kitchen.  he, along with his crew of Lorraine, Michele, Sara, Breanna, and Tue, help cap off an excellent day of being on some of Alaska's most productive and beautiful rivers by creating mouth-watering meal presentations.

More Big Dogs

A couple of pics from the successful first few days of the season.  These two monster native rainbow Trout were caught by two guests at Alaska Sportsman's Bear Trail Lodge on the NakNek River.  Pretty sweet way to start the season!

Season Opener!

The fishing season in Bristol Bay opened this week and fishing (catching) was much hotter than the temps for the most part!  Mornings saw 35 degree temps yet the rainbow Trout were very hungry.  The NakNek and Kvichak were red hot.  Our anglers landed 7 fish over 30" on the NakNek while the Kvichak saw guests land as many as 45 fish in one day!  We hope this is a sign of the things to come for this season!

Nice Job EPA!

Alaska Sportsman's Lodge sends our sincerest appreciation to the EPA on thoroughly investigating the impact of an open pit mine in Bristol Bay.

First Fog

August 29 marks the first major fog delay here at the Sportsman's Lodge, "forcing" guests to stay and fish the Mighty Kvichak in the morning. Fortunately producing yet another trophy rainbow at 30.5 inches. I would say it was worth the delay.
