As you can see, especially those who are on their way up in the near future, fishing is very good. We have had erratic weather this Fall with winds reaching up to 110 mph in Anchorage and surrounding areas, flooding rains and of course the spectacular crystal clear Fall days with electric colors we wait all season for. Despite what Mother Nature has thrown at us we have managed, quite well I might add, to hook into the line-ripping, all mighty, Kvichak River Rainbow's. Stay tuned for the next few weeks.......

Well King Salmon fishing is officially over at the Nush and what a run it was!! We were very fortunately to be on one of very few rivers in Alaska that allowed King Salmon fishing this season. Mike & Linda Leary tie it up with a bang. On the same day, they haul in two fantastic fish showing us what a spectacular river the Nushigak is!ASLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12208517787961831388noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6199977211335787438.post-87802906826873382622012-07-15T13:02:00.000-07:002012-07-15T13:02:00.713-07:00Cycle of Life

King fishing is off to an excellent start at Alaska Sportsman's Lodge. Here an ASL client holds his prize, fresh from the Nushagak River.
ASLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12208517787961831388noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6199977211335787438.post-78377772984404566462012-06-27T00:09:00.001-07:002012-06-27T00:09:21.108-07:00Tasty!

Dinning is a big part of any fishing trip to a lodge. We are proud of our culinary program at ASL and are very happy to have Chef Alex Chase working in the kitchen. he, along with his crew of Lorraine, Michele, Sara, Breanna, and Tue, help cap off an excellent day of being on some of Alaska's most productive and beautiful rivers by creating mouth-watering meal presentations. The fishing season in Bristol Bay opened this week and fishing (catching) was much hotter than the temps for the most part! Mornings saw 35 degree temps yet the rainbow Trout were very hungry. The NakNek and Kvichak were red hot. Our anglers landed 7 fish over 30" on the NakNek while the Kvichak saw guests land as many as 45 fish in one day! We hope this is a sign of the things to come for this season!ASLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12208517787961831388noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6199977211335787438.post-33350410626040095342012-05-21T13:55:00.003-07:002012-05-21T13:56:29.794-07:00EPA's Assessment of Pebble in Bristol Bayhttp://www.anglingtrade.com/2012/05/21/sportsmen-applaud-epas-assessment-of-bristol-bay-alaska/
We have had days where we land 50 King salmon between two anglers in one day! There is no place left in the world that yu can catch those kinds of numbers of King salmon. Our "King Camp" is about 40 minutes by float plane from Alaska Sportsman's Lodge. The sockeye salmon have also shown up with good numbers so now is the time to have a great combination trip of Kings and sockeye. We have clients that have caught Kings all day long and then returned to the lodge, had a nice dinner and then go right in front of the lodge to catch their limit of sockeye! What a great time to be here!ASLhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12208517787961831388noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6199977211335787438.post-54848219768486207972011-06-28T13:53:00.000-07:002011-06-28T15:08:19.717-07:00Youngest trainees...We make sure our staff; the pilots, guides, housekeepers, chefs and kitchen crew are world class.
